Mini Gel Point - An Open Technique Surgery

Mini Gel Point

Here is a neat tool I use in the operating room.

This is the Mini Gel Point. It is tiny, about 3 cm wide, and I use it to gain access into the abdomen. So instead of using a veress needle, I use an open technique and put this little gel point in.

There are three reasons it’s my favorite:

  1. Allows access to the abdomen

  2. I can extract large specimens from it (ovarian cysts, fibroids, and even an entire uterus!)

  3. Using it can hide the incision right inside the belly button.
